Dear friends, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, and members of the community.
Four Rivers Charter Public School is in its 15th year of providing learning opportunities that take students beyond our classroom walls. We need your donation to help support two programs that make our school what it is: learning expeditions and intensives.
Examples of learning expeditions include the following: seniors travelling into Boston to investigate fossil fuel divestment on college campuses; juniors working with a well-known playwright to stage Voices Beyond the Dark, a readers theater performance that highlights the voices of human rights defenders who have stood up for others; tenth graders travelling to Washington, D.C. to perform vignettes depicting different perspectives on America’s 20th century wars at the memorials to those wars; ninth graders visiting local farms, giving them real-world context for learning about agriculture and food systems. In middle school, students visit wind turbines, bike to Turners Falls, build cell models and kites and their own wind turbines.
Through intensives, we take students to the wilderness, New York City, the Connecticut River, colleges in all compass directions, the White Mountains, local food pantries, and more.
You can help us provide these transformative learning experiences without charging extra fees by donating whatever you can afford to our Sustainability Fund.
